A DC fast charger contains its own power conversion equipment and delivers direct current straight to the battery, communicating with the car's battery management system to set the current. Public DC chargers in India commonly range from about 25-30 kW to 60 kW, with 120 kW and faster units increasingly common on highways.
DC charging is fastest in the middle of the battery's range and slows deliberately above roughly 80% to protect the cells, which is why manufacturers quote times such as 10-80%. Most electric cars in India use the CCS2 connector for DC charging.
