Depending on where you live, your supply in Mumbai may come from BEST, Tata Power, Adani Electricity Mumbai or MSEDCL. Any load enhancement or separate EV connection is applied for with your own distribution company, so keep a recent electricity bill handy when you enquire.
Many Mumbai homes are in cooperative housing societies with basement, stilt or podium parking, so most installations need the society’s permission and careful planning of the cable route and fire safety. A 2022 directive from the Maharashtra Cooperation Department reportedly requires societies to respond to a member’s request for an EV charger NOC within a set period, provided safety guidelines are followed.
Maharashtra’s Electric Vehicle Policy 2025 (valid to March 2030) promotes EV-ready parking, including charging-ready parking in new residential buildings and shared charging in existing housing societies. We can help your society understand what is practical for your building.
