V2G (Vehicle-to-Grid)

Technology that lets an EV send stored energy back to the grid, not just draw from it.

Vehicle-to-grid allows a parked, plugged-in EV to export electricity to the grid during periods of high demand, potentially earning the owner money and helping balance the grid. Related concepts include vehicle-to-home (V2H) and vehicle-to-load (V2L), which power a home or appliances from the car's battery.

V2G requires bidirectional chargers, compatible vehicles and supportive regulations. It is still at an early, largely pilot stage in India, while V2L features that power appliances are available on some cars sold here.
